Technical and vocational education along with training increasingly plays a leading role in Sri Lankan education. In this context University College of Ratmalana, has taken the challenge of mastering the skills and competency of the students whose ultimate intention is to be a part of the competitive industries in the national and international arena.
It is an unavoidable fact that the fast development in Sri Lanka has paved the way for an efficiency driven economy where there is a gigantic demand for skills and competencies based employment opportunities.
University College of Ratmalana, established in 21st November 2014, to create alternative learning pathways up to degree level for the students who are leaving school education, in searching for career opportunities in local industries.
Our institution is established under a special act of parliament, affiliated to University of Vocational Technology (UNIVOTEC), offering National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) levels 5 and 6, covering nine different fields of study. The students who have successfully completed the NVQ level 6 at qualification at University College of Ratmalana will be eligible to follow degree programs in their respective fields offered by UNIVOTEC.
Our college is situated in the Western Province of the country, providing essential competency-based education and training. The curricula practiced in the college entirely focused on building the industry and related skills and competencies. The education provided in the college is free for the entire period of three years of Higher National Diploma, serving youth focusing on social responsibility.
